No one was hurt after a fire significantly damaged a house in Halifax on Thursday morning.

Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency crews responded to the fire on Hunter St. around 10:30 a.m.

“On arrival, they discovered a large volume of fire and smoke on the back of a 2-story residential building,” said deputy chief Dave Meldrum in an email to CityNews.

Meldrum said crews managed to knock down the fire quickly and no one was found inside as firefighters searched the house.

Officials released the scene on Thursday afternoon, and Meldrum said an investigation into the cause of the fire was underway.
