Man charged in deadly North Preston shooting

A man has been charged with first-degree murder in relation to a deadly shooting in North Preston earlier this year.

The RCMP says 26-year-old Daniel Romeo Downey is facing charges of first-degree murder and attempted murder after being arrested yesterday in Dartmouth.

The charges are in connection to a shooting on March 14 on Downey Road. Police say 18-year-old Dieago Downey was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries.

Police say a second man was later identified as having been targeted in the incident.

Daniel Romeo Downey appeared in court on Thursday morning and is being held in custody for another court date set for July 2.

The RCMP says the investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call police.
