By CityNews Halifax Staff

RCMP in Halifax have arrested a Lower Sackville man for dangerous driving after he was clocked travelling more than double the speed limit.

According to RCMP, an officer recorded a motorcycle on Beaver Bank Road travelling 152 km/h in a 70 km/h zone on June 11 just after 11 p.m.

In a release, Mounties said a traffic stop was attempted but the rider proceeded through a red light.

In the interest of public safety, the officer did not pursue.

Shortly after, the officer was approached by a man on foot who was identified as the operator of the motorcycle.

The 22-year-old man exhibited signs of impairment and was arrested before providing breath samples.

The man was later released but will appear in court on July 16 to face several charges.
