Decision on new chief of Halifax Regional Police should come by the fall: Councillor

The search continues for the next permanent chief of Halifax Regional Police.
Don MacLean took over as acting chief after Dan Kinsella stepped down in September 2023.
The board of police commissioners has been working since then to find a replacement.
“Every day we make progress,” said board chair and councillor Becky Kent. “July it looks like we will shortlist it and start doing our interviews.”
Kent says the goal is to have a new police chief in place by the fall.
