Nova Scotia RCMP has charged a teacher in Tatamagouche with sexual offences involving a student.

On Tuesday, Colchester County District RCMP were contacted by the Tatamagouche Regional Academy about inappropriate contact.

Mounties were told the teacher was placed on leave earlier this month while the school investigated.

According to RCMP, the teacher allegedly sexually assaulted a student on multiple occasions between May and June in addition to sending explicit photos to that student and at least one other.

As a result, Mounties arrested 36-year-old Nicole MacLeod of Murray Siding, N.S.

MacLeod has been charged with sexual assault, sexual interference, sexual exploitation, luring a child, invitation to sexual touching, and making sexually explicit material available to a child.

She was released on conditions to appear in Truro Provincial Court in September.

Meantime, Mounties said they are encouraging anyone who may be a survivor to come forward by contacting RCMP.
