Defence Minister begins two day visit to Halifax

Minister of National Defence Bill Blair will be in Halifax on Thursday and Friday to meet with business leaders and to mark a major milestone for the navy and for the Irving shipyard.

Blair is scheduled to take part in a Thursday morning event put on by the Halifax Chamber of Commerce to discuss Canada’s updated defence policy.

On Friday, Vice-Admiral Angus Topshee will join Bill Blair at the shipyard as construction on the surface combatant fleet gets underway. The project is said to be the biggest of its kind in Canada since the Second World War.
