RCMP in Meteghan, N.S., have launched an investigation after a cemetery monument for a homicide victim was vandalized.

Police said that recently, charges were laid in the murder of Vernon Doucet, who died in hospital after suffering injuries in a home invasion back in February 2022.

On Wednesday, Mounties received reports that a stone monument to Doucet had been removed from its location in the cemetery and spray painted.

Police said they believe that this incident is connected to the recently announced charges.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing and anyone if information is asked to contact RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
