Halifax police looking at new suspect in scam involving bail money

Halifax Regional Police are providing new suspect information regarding an ongoing scam in Nova Scotia.
On July 17, police released a photo of a man who was believed to be involved in the scam, however, that person has been identified and is no longer considered a suspect in the incident from earlier this week.
On July 15, police responded to a report of a fraud that had occurred in Halifax where a scammer pretending to be a family member called a resident saying they needed bail money.
Another person, posing as a person of authority, gave instructions on how the money would be collected and a courier came to the person’s residence on Chipstone Close to pick up the cash.
Investigators are now looking to identify a man who is believed to be involved in the incident.
Police have described the person as in his late 20s, tall, thin and of East Asian descent.

Halifax police also reminding people to be suspicious of emails or phone calls asking for money and to make sure the person making these communications is legitimate before providing any money or information.
