Humidity expected to leave soon as temperatures soar close to 40

Most of Nova Scotia remains in the grips of a summer heat wave that will again see humidex values in the mid-30s on Wednesday.

Environment Canada’s heat warnings remain in effect for much of the province, including in Halifax Regional Municipality, where temperatures are expected to reach 36 C by Wednesday afternoon.

CityNews Meteorologist Carl Lam said the change will come Wednesday night.

“We are tracking some cooler weather that is heading our way,” he said. “It’s not even that the temperatures will drop all that much, but the humidity will gradually make an exit.”

The cold front responsible for the weather change should move through the region by Friday, Lam said. Once that happens, the sun will return, and the good news is that there is dryer air behind the front, and that should keep the humidity at bay through the weekend.
