A popular Canadian rock act has had to cancel their tour dates in August, including an upcoming show in Nova Scotia.

Sum 41 has had to back out of the Jubilee East Coast Music Festival in New Glasgow this weekend after a band member suffered a back injury. The band behind hits such as “Fat Lip” and “In Too Deep” were scheduled to play Aug. 3.

According to a posting from the festival, the band hopes to continue touring in September but for now, that injury is sidelining the act for a few weeks due to “physician ordered recuperation.”

As for Sum 41, a representative for the Ontario band told The Canadian Press that singer Deryck Whibley was the unnamed band member listed as injured.

Shows booked for the Area 506 Music Festival in Saint John on Aug. 4 have also been cancelled as well as four additional dates in various parts of Quebec throughout next month.

Sum 41 is in the midst of a massive world tour that kicked off last March and is expected to run for the better part of a year, winding its way to a final show at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena on Jan. 30, 2025.
