N.S. police watchdog investigates after woman suffers injury to her liver
Nova Scotia’s police watchdog is investigating an incident where a woman suffered serious injuries following an interaction with Halifax Regional Police.
On July 16, officers responded to a 9-1-1 call regarding domestic dispute where officers took a woman into custody.
According to a release from the Serious Incident Response Team ( SiRT), an officer took her to the ground and after she was released from custody, she went to hospital and was diagnosed with an injury to her liver.

As a result, SiRT has launched an investigation into the incident.
SiRT is responsible for investigating all matters that involve death, serious injury, sexual assault and intimate partner violence that may have arisen from the actions of any police officer in Nova Scotia or New Brunswick.
