East Hants District RCMP has charged a teacher at a school for sexual offences involving a student.

On June 3, Mounties received a report of inappropriate contact with a student by an employee working at Uniacke District School.

According to RCMP, officers launched an investigation in December 2023 after receiving reports that a math intervention teacher employed at schools within the Chignecto-Central Regional Centre for Education had inappropriately touched a student on multiple occasions.

Police said on Aug. 5, officers arrested Colin Wilson, 35, of Lantz.

He has been charged with sexual interference and sexual exploitation of a young person.

He was released on conditions and will appear at Shubenacadie Provincial Court in October.

RCMP said Wilson was placed on leave when these initial concerns were made to CCRCE this past May.
