Power restored after thousands were in the dark in the North End

Power was restored around 7:30 a.m. Monday morning after nearly 3,000 Nova Scotia Power customers were in the dark.

Just after 6 a.m., lights went out in much of the north end from Kempt Road to Barrington Street, including and north of Young Street.

Meantime, Halifax Fire responded to a power pole on fire in the 3300 block of Barrington Street around the same time Monday morning

In a release, Halifax Fire said traffic in both directions is blocked at this time.

Motorists were being asked to seek alternate routes at this time.
