Nova Scotians woke up Friday to a significant decrease in the cost of fuel.

In its weekly adjustment, The Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board lowered the price of regular self-serve gasoline overnight by 6.3 cents to 162.5 cents per litre.

There was also a sizeable decrease by the provincial regulator to the price of diesel, which saw a slip of 4 cents at midnight to now sit at 163.8 cents.

One year ago, Halifax residents were paying 1.88 for gas and 1.96 for diesel.
