Robie Street entrance to the QE2 closed for construction

Significant changes to hospital access in Halifax started on Monday morning.

The Robie Street entrance to the Halifax Infirmary is now closed as work continues on a new tower at the QE2. Heading to the QE2 site, people need to use the Summer Street entrance to enter the facility.

QE2’s Jane Davies says the Summer Street parkade is opening for patients, but the changes will mean fewer spots for staff.

“The top level of the parkade will have 100 spots for car-pooling for staff,” said Davies. “We also have an agreement with Parks Canada that we will be opening up on Monday 230 spots at the Garrison Grounds, and included in that will be a shuttle that will take them to the Infirmary and the VG and get them back,”

Staff will also receive discounted transit passes to encourage bus use. Officials say extensive signage will help people navigate the new entrance.
