Mooseheads unveil 2024/25 opening night roster

A new-look team will be hitting the ice for the Halifax Mooseheads this upcoming season.

The team announced 15 forwards, seven defencemen and two goals have made the team to open the 2024/25 QMJHL regular season.

“The new-look Herd will have 14 returning players and 10 new faces on the squad this year, including 11th overall draft pick Danny Walters and fellow 16-year-old 2024 draftees Caylen Blake and Amelio Santini,” the team said in a media release. “Newcomers from the 2023 draft class are Alec Nasreddine, Eddy Doyle and Patrick McNab.”

Star goalie Mathis Rousseau will be back between the pipes for Halifax this season. Fellow returnees include Braeden MacPhee, Brady Schultz and Liam Kilfoil.

New head coach Andrew Lord will be behind the bench alongside the returning Brad MacKenzie, who was promoted to associate coach over the offseason.

The Mooseheads will kick off the new season in Charlottetown on September 20. The home opener at Scotiabank Centre goes Fri. Oct. 4 as Halifax welcomes Quebec to town.
