Mooseheads remain unbeaten after win in Cape Breton

The Halifax Mooseheads put on a special team clinic Friday night in Cape Breton, completely shutting down the Eagle’s powerplay while scoring 3 power-play goals.

The Eagles opened the scoring less than 5 minutes into the first period as Lucas Romeo lit the lamp of the assists by Cole Burbidge and Xavier Daigle. Just a minute later Callum Aucoin fired on pass Rousseau to give the Eagles an early 2-0 lead. Cade Moser responded for the Herd with about 8 minutes left in the 1st period to cut the Eagles lead in half. Lou Levesque would score on the powerplay to tie the game at 2-2 after the first period.

Antoine Fontaine netted the game winning goal striking early for the Herd at the start of the second period. The goal was then reviewed by the referees for a possible high stick but was confirmed shortly after. Shawn Carrier would notch his first goal for the Mooseheads giving them a 4-2 lead heading into the second period. Jack Martin sent a dagger past Jakub Milota to score the final goal for the Herd giving them the 5-2 victory in Sydney.
