Cannabis, razor blade found in Halloween treat bags, Halifax police say

The RCMP is investigating after reports of cannabis and a razor blade being found in Halloween treat bags in the Halifax area.

According to the Mounties, officers got a report on Thursday night of cannabis being given out to trick-or-treaters in Lake Echo.

“Investigators learned that two youths each returned home to find a dozen pre-rolled joints among their Halloween treats,” police said in a media release. “At this time, it’s believed the cannabis came from a residence on Ponderosa Road or Bluerock Road between the hours of 7 p.m. and 8 p.m.”

Later Thursday night, the RCMP also received a report of a razor blade in a treat bag, believed to have come from a home on Taranaki Drive in Westphal.

“Investigators are asking the public to exercise caution, check treats and report incidents to police,” they said.

Anyone with information is asked to reach out to police or Crime Stoppers.
