Two people will be in court in December after the RCMP executed a search warrant at an “illegal cannabis storefront” in Lucasville earlier this week.
The Mounties say the investigation started on Nov. 10, when Halifax Regional Police contacted the RCMP about an aggravated assault in front of the store on Lucasville Road.
Police say the victim, a 30-year-old Beaver Bank man, suffered serious injuries and went to hospital. They say the victim and suspect are known to each other.
The following day, RCMP officers executed a search warrant at the store, seizing cannabis in various forms including, edibles, pre-rolled joints, resin, shatter and vape products.
“At the scene, a 51-year-old man, from Annapolis Royal, and a 59-year-old woman, from Chester, were safely arrested. They will be facing charges of Possession for the Purpose of Distributing and Possession for the Purpose of Selling under the Cannabis Act,” police wrote in a media release.
The assault and cannabis investigations are being led by the RCMP/HRP integrated division.
