Halifax Water lifts conservation measures at Lake Major

Halifax Water says water conservation measures at Lake Major have been lifted.

Voluntary measures were brought in on Nov. 14 due to lower-than-normal water levels at the lake, which services areas including Dartmouth, Cole Harbour and Eastern Passage.

On Nov. 25 some mandatory restrictions were added.

The utility says conservation efforts helped decrease water usage by 5 to 10 per cent at the lake and there has been enough rain in recent weeks to bring water levels back to normal.

Halifax Water says it will also be resuming hydrant flow testing and reopening bulk water fill stations at Lake Major.
