Elderly person restrained during Halifax-area home invasion

Police in the Halifax area are asking the public for help in a home invasion that happened on Friday.

The RCMP says just after 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 13, officers were called to West Dover Road.

“Investigators learned that two men armed with knives had forced their way into the home,” police wrote in a news release. “Once inside, one of the two occupants was restrained while the second was instructed to open a safe.”

They say the suspects fled the area and the two people in the home, a 77-year-old man and 75-year-old woman, did not suffer physicial injuries.

One suspect is described as 6’4″ with a stocky build, wearing a mask and dressed in black. The second is described as 5’8″ and stocky, said to be wearing camouflage pants, a black top and a mask.

Police say they do not believe the home invasion was random.

Anyone with information is asked to reach out to police or Crime Stoppers.
