Halifax man charged with stunting after going 107 km/h in a 50 zone

Halifax Regional Police have charged a man with stunting after going 57 km/h over the posted speed limit.

On Monday at roughly 11 a.m., an officer caught a vehicle speeding on Joseph Howe Drive and clocked the driver at 107 km/h in a 50 zone.

Police say a 33-year-old man from Halifax was ticketed for stunting, a charge that is automatically laid when a vehicle is travelling more than 50 km/h over the speed limit.

The fine in Nova Scotia for stunting is $2,422.50 and six points are assigned to the driver’s record.

In addition, Police said the driver was suspended for seven days, the vehicle was seized, and the driver was also ticketed for unsafe lane changes which carries a fine $237.50.
