Deadline to switch bridge transponders postponed

It appears that those who have yet to switch from the old plastic transponder to the new sticker technology have been given a bit of a reprieve.

Halifax Harbour Bridges(HHB) previously said that the hard plastic devices, which have been a staple for many years, would no longer work after today, but in a post to their website, HHB now says that deadline has been postponed as they continue to work with the Houston government on removing the tolls on the bridges.

Premier Houston promised during the fall election campaign that he would remove the toll to cross the spans at a cost of about 40 million dollars per year.

HHB said that it appreciates the cooperation of those who have already made the switch and continues to encourage others to take advantage of the improved technology that provides faster and more efficient toll processing compared to the older hard-shell devices.
