Police continue to investigate disappearance of Zachery Lefave four years later

Police say they continue to investigate the disappearance of Zachery Lefave four years after he was reported missing.

On Jan. 1, 2021, Yarmouth RCMP launched its investigation after it was reported Lefave did not return to a New Year’s Eve gathering he had attended earlier that evening with friends.

Police said he was last seen walking on Hwy. 334 in Plymouth at roughly 12:15 a.m. and hasn’t been seen since.

“Through a combination of statements and following up on tips and leads, our investigators have spoken with over two hundred people during the course of this investigation. The information and details provided have shaped where and how searches have taken place, and will support potential new search efforts going forward,” said Cst. Shawn Himmelman, lead investigator with the Southwest Nova RCMP Major Crime Unit.

Mountie said the investigation is ongoing, adding they would would like to speak with anyone driving or walking on or near Hwy. 334 between Arcadia and Wedgeport between the hours of 11:30 p.m. on Dec. 31, 2020, and 3:00 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2021.

At the time of his disappearance, Lefave was 21-years-old, 5’9″ and 175 pounds, with brown facial hair, brown hair and blue eyes. He is now 25 years old. He was last seen wearing a hat, plaid shirt and shorts.

His case is part of the Nova Scotia Department of Justice Reward for Major Unsolved Crimes Program which offers rewards of up to $150,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for his disappearance.
