30-year-old man dead after barricading incident in Porters Lake area

Police have released more details about an incident in Porters Lake where a man was found dead after barricading himself in a home.

On Thursday at roughly 4 a.m., Mounties responded to a complaint of a distressed man who was believed to be armed inside a home on the 1300 block of West Porters Lake Road.

Police said multiple units responded, including the crisis negotiation team, as they made several attempts to contact the man.

According to RCMP, he did not respond and when officers obtained a search warrant to enter the home, where they found the 30-year-old man dead inside.

No one else was inside the home at the time and the man’s death is not believed to be suspicious.

Mounties said the investigation is ongoing.
