RCMP Halifax Regional Fire assist in house fire investigation
RCMP Halifax Regional Fire is assisting in the investigation of a house fire that broke out in Lower Sackville in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Shortly after 3:00 a.m., RCMP, Fire Services and EMS responded to the report of a fire at a residence on Riverside Dr.
When first responders arrived, it was confirmed six people had been in the home at the time. Two occupants, a 37-year-old female and 2-year-old child, had safely exited the home uninjured. A 40-year-old man was rescued by a neighbour and transported to hospital by EHS. Fire services rescued three young children, aged 5, 6 and 9, all of whom were transported to hospital. The 40-year-old man remains in critical condition. The status of the children’s injuries have not been reported.

The fire remains under investigation. RCMP report investigators will remain on scene to continue to gather information and evidence.
The investigation is being assisted by the Nova Scotia Office of the Fire Marshal, the RCMP/HRP Criminal Investigation Division, RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment, and RCMP Forensic Identification Services.
