Fire in Dartmouth sends two people to hospital as crews battle flames

Two people have been taken to hospital after a fire in a residential Dartmouth neighbourhood.

Halifax Fire deputy chief Dave Meldrum told 95.7 NewsRadio, crews responded to 1 Thompson St. on Friday afternoon to discover a working fire.

“We have multiple crews on scene at this time,” Meldrum said just before 1:30 p.m. “They are achieving a good effect on this fire and there is no risk to the surrounding neighborhood.”

Two adults were rescued from the structure and were taken to hospital. Meldrum said their condition was unknown.

Halifax Fire crews were expected to remain on scene for a “while” on Friday afternoon. People were being asked to avoid the area.
