‘Hoax’ explosive device found at Grand Parade; police look for suspect

Halifax Regional Police released an image of a suspect they believe planted a suspicious package in the area of Grand Parade this morning, that was not a risk to the public, but was meant to be a threat.

Officers were called to the scene around 9:50 a.m. and closed a number of streets in the area for the investigation. By 11:30 a.m. police reopened roads to pedestrians and traffic.

Officials say in the package was a “hoax improvised explosive device.” Police have determined it did not pose a risk to the public but they say “it was designed to come across as threatening.”
