Voltigeurs defeat Mooseheads, tie playoff series

An Ethan Gauthier hat trick powered the Drummondville Voltigeurs to a 3-1 victory over the Halifax Mooseheads at the Scotiabank Centre on Wednesday evening.

The Voltigeurs opened the scoring in the second period as Ethan Gauthier and Luke Woodworth found themselves on a 2-1 opportunity, Woodworth sending a pass to Gauthier who sniped it into the Mooseheads net.

Drummondville added another at the opening of the third period as Ethan Gauthier added his second of the game, doubling the Volt’s lead.

Owen Philips put the Herd within one 10 minutes later, receiving a pass from call-up Ryan Fletcher before finding an open lane and driving the net, deking and sending a backhand over Louis-Félix Charrois and into the Voltigeurs goal.

Ethan Gauthier restored Drummondville’s two goal lead, scoring his third of the night, sniping a pass from Jesse Allecia past Jacob Steinman as the Voltigeurs claimed game four of the seven game series.

With the Herd’s loss the series is now tied 2-2 with one game remaining in Halifax.

Despite the loss Jacob Steinman earned first star making 51 saves in the loss. Drummondville forwards Ethan Gauthier and Luke Woodworth were awarded second and third star respectively.

Game 5 will take place at the Scotiabank Centre on Friday, Apr 4 as both teams look to take the series lead heading back to Drummondville. Puck drop is at 7 p.m., and you can catch all the action here on 95.7 NewsRadio
