One dead following single-vehicle crash; RCMP investigates

RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment is investigating a single-vehicle crash that left the driver and sole occupant dead Saturday.

At approximately 9:25 a.m. Saturday, RCMP, fire and EHS responded to a report of a crash on Highway 103 near Exit 5 in Upper Tantallon.

RCMP officers say a Toyota Matrix was travelling westbound when it left the roadway and entered the ditch.

The driver, a 47-year-old woman from Dalhousie Junction, N.B., was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was involved in the collision.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist attended the location of the crash, and a section of Highway 103 remained closed for several hours.

The highway has since been reopened, but the investigation is ongoing.
