Student transit pass program extended into next year

The city announced that its student transit pass program will continue for the 2025/26 school year.

The free passes for Halifax Transit services will be available to all students in Grades 7 to 12 in the Halifax Regional Centre for Education and CSAP.

The municipality said that starting in September, registered homeschooled students in grades 7 to 12 who live in the Halifax region will also be eligible to receive a free pass.

Meantime, the 2024/25 passes will be extended until Sept. 12, 2025.

The program was originally launched in 2021 and came at a cost of cost $1.8 million for the 2024-25 school year, with the province contributing $1.2 million.
