Firearms charges laid after shooting stems from argument

Police in Halifax have charged a man with firearms offences after a shooting on Saturday.

According to police, officers were called to Elmdale Crescent in the Spryfield area on Saturday night around 10:30 p.m. where a man had been shot at by another man he knew.

The man didn’t suffer injuries, and police say the shooting stemmed from an argument earlier in the day.

The suspect, 27-year-old Brandon Robert Brown, was arrested early Sunday morning.

He’s facing a long list of charges including discharging a firearm with intent to endanger life, along with numerous other firearms related charges.

He was expected to appear in court on Monday.

Editor’s Note: An earlier version of this story read that the accused was charged with attempted murder, which Halifax Regional Police has now said was an error on its part.
