Project Homecoming is the investigation into a group that targets drug sales to young people in the Antigonish-Guysborough area.
According to the RCMP, the 12-month long case began in January 2025 when police recieved a tip that a group was “actively targeting young people to sell drugs to.” This prompted a coordinated investigation with the Antigonish-Guysborough street crime unit, and various other RCMP officers.
On May 29, police said they gathered credible intelligence that a 21-year-old man was arranging the sale of a “significant quantity of cocaine.” The suspect was arrested on Main Street in Antigonish and the search of the man led to police taking the illegal drug.
Then on Sept. 11, officers arrested a 28-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man. In this operation they seized cocaine, ecstasy and cash from two homes, the press release reads.
Months later, in December, a 20-year-old man and a youth were arrested in connection with the investigation.
The accused are facing a slew of charges, including purpose for trafficking (cocaine) and purpose for trafficking (ecstasy). The youth is also facing these offences.
“This investigation focused on traffickers who were supplying drugs directly to young people,” says Cst. Tyler Baird, Antigonish County District RCMP. “By identifying and targeting this network, we were able to significantly reduce the flow of harmful substances to young people in the community.”
RCMP say the investigation is ongoing and additional charges are expected. All of the suspects were released on conditions and are set to appear in a provincial court at later dates.
