Dartmouth dog groomer faces charges for animal cruelty

By Chris Halef

A local dog groomer is facing multiple counts in connection with several animal cruelty complaints.

According to the Nova Scotia SPCA, Lorraine Murphy of Dartmouth has been charged with four counts of causing distress under the Animal Protection Act of Nova Scotia.

The SPCA says this comes after it investigated several animal cruelty complaints of animal abuse during dog grooming appointments at Murphy’s facility in Dartmouth.

No further details were provided as to what took place during the appointments.

Murphy is now scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court in March to face those charges.

People can report acts of animal cruelty to the SPCA by calling them or online at its website.
