One person dead, another seriously injured after Newfoundland shooting

ST. JOHN’S — Mounties say one person is dead and another is fighting for their life in hospital after a shooting in a central area of Newfoundland.
RCMP say they were called Wednesday to a home on Main Street in Grand Falls-Windsor, west of Gander, for reports of a shooting.
One person inside the home was airlifted to St. John’s with serious and potentially life-threatening injuries for advanced medical care and treatment.
After a tip from a witness, RCMP say officers tracked down the vehicle used by the suspect and a person was found dead nearby.
Criminality is not believed to have played a role in their death.
Police say they believe the shooting was targeted and there is no safety risk to the general public.
