Power restored after thousands in the dark in Halifax

A power interruption that impacted nearly 8,000 Nova Scotia Power customers in Halifax has been restored.

According to the utility’s outage map, the cause was due to what they described as a “transmission interruption.”

At its peak, the utility’s outage map showed the interruption affected nearly all of downtown, from Spring Garden Road to much of the city’s North End, and extended to Dunbrack Street in Fairview.

Nova Scotia Power had originally estimated the restoration time as 1:15 p.m. but power was back on before 9:30 a.m.
