Survey finds losing weight can be a financial burden

TORONTO, Ont. – A new survey suggests the struggle with obesity can be a significant financial burden.

The survey, conducted for the Canadian Obesity Network, suggested that the average person who spent money on weight loss methods paid $9-hundred on a commercial program, $766 on gym memberships, $6-hundred on diet pills and $4-hundred special diets.

Nearly three-quarters of respondents said they had been battling their weight for more than 11-years, and about one-quarter said they had lost count of how many times they had tried to lose weight.
