Man involved in shooting Jimmy Melvin Jr. sentenced to 16 years

A man involved in the shooting of Jimmy Melvin Junior more than two and a half years ago has been sentenced to 16 years in prison.

Jeremy Alvin LeBlanc was sentenced Thursday after the December 2008 shooting in Cowie Hill.

According to the Herald Melvin and LeBlanc were both being electronically monitored by police.

A dramatic recording played in court revealed LeBlanc and another man talking how they were going to shoot Melvin and how perfect the plan would be.

Six shots were fired; Melvin took two bullets and survived.

LeBlanc was actually Melvin’s childhood friend. There’s speculation he was trying to make a move in the crime world by shooting him.
