Police investigate early morning homicide

By Meghan Groff

Halifax Regional Police (HRP) is investigating an early Saturday morning homicide.

Officers were called to Brunswick Street south of North Street just after 1:30 a.m., where they found a man with gunshot wounds.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both vehicles and pedestrians were being rerouted around the area for the investigation.

Just before 1 p.m., Brunswick Street between Artz and Gerrish streets as well as Uniacke Street reopened to traffic.

Both areas had been shut down for several hours early Saturday morning.

“The incident is still under investigation and further details will follow when they become available,” an HRP news release says.

Anyone with information or video from the area is asked to call police at 902-490-5020.
