Man accused of breaking into Halifax parking garage

A man is facing charges after a Halifax parking garage was broken into early Thursday.

Halifax Regional Police were called to Pepperell Street just before 2 a.m.

Officers found that property was stolen from a number of vehicles.

They arrested a man they say was trying to leave the area.

Police say the suspect had a concealed knife and he gave the officers a fake name.

Zachary Dean McEwen, 45, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court today to face charges of break and enter, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of break in instruments and obstruction.

HRP say McEwan had an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court on charges related to a November break-in at a parking garage on Robie Street near the Halifax Common.
