Barrington Street closed near Spring Garden

Halifax Regional Police have closed Barrington Street between Bishop Street and Spring Garden Road.

Halifax Regional Municipality is asking pedestrians and motorists to avoid the area.

The steeple at St. Matthew's United Church was damaged during Tuesday night's high winds and HRM says crews are trying to stabilize it.

They say Halifax Transit buses will be escorted through the area while repairs take place.
