34-year-old victim identified in Dartmouth homicide

Police are providing an update on the investigation into the death of a man that occurred yesterday in Dartmouth and are releasing the victim’s name.
Just after 2 a.m. on Saturday morning, Halifax Regional Police responded to a complaint at a residence on Viscaya Place. When officers arrived, they located an adult male deceased with injuries that were consistent with gunshot wounds.
The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service conducted an autopsy and has ruled the manner of death to be a homicide. The victim has been identified as 34-year-old Nelson Tyrelle Beals. Our thoughts are with Nelson's family and loved ones during this difficult time.
The investigation is being led by homicide investigators from the Special Investigations Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division. The investigation is in its preliminary stages and police are asking anyone with information about this incident or video from the area between 1:00 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. to call police at 902-490-5020.
