Masks will be mandatory at Saint Mary’s University this fall

Another post-secondary institution in Nova Scotia will be requiring a mask to be work when classes resume in September.

Saint Mary's University posted an update to its COVID-19 protocols on Wednesday.

It says, starting on Sept. 1, masks will be required to be worn by students, faculty and staff in classrooms, common spaces, residences, athletic facilities and at large gatherings.

Currently SMU only requires a mask to be work at its health centre.

Saint Mary's joins Mount St. Vincent, Dalhousie, the University of King's College and St. FX in requiring masks to be worn for the beginning of the school year.

NSCC and NSCAD at this time have not said if masks will be required in the fall. Their current protocols don't require face coverings.
