Halifax Regional Municipality's favourite conversing conifer returns to Mic Mac Mall this weekend, along with a couple of special guests.

Woody the Talking Christmas Tree will greet shoppers from November 19 to December 23, 7 days a week.

There will be a special “wake up Woody” event this Saturday, featuring Santa Claus himself. The jolly old elf will arrive at the mall by horse-drawn sleigh at 10:00 a.m. and go in through Entrance #3.

There will also be free Woody face painting, treats, live entertainment and a gift of a free seedling with growing instructions to keep Woody’s spirit alive at home.

The Tree for Boston will even be making an appearance before heading off to the Parade of Lights.

Woody can be visited Saturday, November 19 from noon to 4 p.m.

After that, he'll be available Monday to Saturday noon to 7 p.m., and noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays.

The festive fir made its first public appearance in 15 years last Christmas season.

Woody quickly gained international attention, getting featured on CNN in a piece by Jeanne Moos, a reporter who tends to focus on unusual stories, and a mention in Jimmy Fallon's opening monologue on The Tonight Show.
