HRM extends the overnight parking ban into Saturday morning

By CityNews Halifax Staff

After a winter wallop, the overnight winter parking ban will be extended and enforced tonight in Halifax.

According to the municipality, that means no on-street parking between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. on Saturday, Mar. 4 to allow crews to continue cleaning up from the snowstorm.

It will be in effect in both zones (Zone 1 – Central and Zone 2 – Non-Central).

Any vehicles left parked on city streets risk being ticketed.

In addition, vehicles can be towed day or night, at any time of year, if they interfere with snow-clearing operations under the province's Motor Vehicle Act.

Residents are asked to make sure vehicles aren't blocking sidewalks or hanging out of driveways as they risk being damaged by snow removal equipment.
