Evacuees in Shelburne County return home as wildfire contained

Some good news for Nova Scotians in the southwest region of the province, as residents forced to evacuate their homes on the south shore are now back at home.

In an update this morning, the Department of Natural Resources states power was able to be restored to the Little Harbour community last night, and the evacuation order was lifted.

The Shelburne County fire remains about 60 per cent contained at about 56 hectares in size, according to the update.

The area reportedly only getting a sprinkling of rain and DNR staff are continuing to work on the blaze.

Another update is expected later today.
