Police investigate death after incident on the Halifax waterfront

Halifax Regional Police (HRP) are appealing to the public for help as they continue to investigate a Sunday night incident on the Halifax Boardwalk that resulted in the death of a 26-year-old man.

Police say there were called around 9:40 p.m. to the scene in the 1500 block of Lower Water Street near Salter Street where they say they found an unresponsive man on the boardwalk.

The victim was transported to hospital, where he police say he died from his injuries.

The investigation is in its early stages but police believe the injuries were sustained in a case of aggravated assault.

HRP says members from the Special Investigations Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division continue to investigate the case and are asking anyone with information about the incident or video from the area, who has not already spoken with police, to call 902-490-5020.
