Portuguese man o’ war spotted in some N.S. beaches

The province is issuing a warning to beachgoers as Portuguese man o’ war have been spotted in some of Nova Scotia’s beaches.

In a social media post by Nova Scotia Parks, it says the creatures have been spotted in Clam Harbour and Lawrencetown Beach.

“Sightings are relatively common at this time of year,” the post said. “Visitors should use caution and avoid swimming if Portuguese man o’ war are present.”

If people see one, they should not touch them and keep their pets away as well as their sting can be both painful and hazardous.
