Third youth suspect charged in home invasion that injured several people

Halifax RCMP arrested a third youth and seized the firearm and sensory irritant used in a home invasion that happened in Lower Sackville over the weekend.

The weapons were found by police following a search warrant executed on Alder Crescent at around 10:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, and about 50 minutes later, the suspect was safely arrested on Kaye Street.

The third youth has since been released on conditions and is set to appear in court at a later date. The other two suspects were arrested at a home on Alder Crescent earlier that morning.

The three are facing charges of break and enter, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon, disguise with intent and mischief.

RCMP responded to reports of a disturbance at a home on Hillside Avenue shortly before midnight on Sept. 20.

An investigation revealed that four masked youths entered the residence where a group had gathered. Once inside, a pellet gun was discharged and one occupant was allegedly assaulted.

Upon arrival, officers located several youth victims who had sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The victims were attended to by EHS. A nearby resident had come out during the commotion and was impacted by the sensory irritant.

The investigation is ongoing an anyone with additional information on this incident is asked to contact the Halifax RCMP at 902-490-5020 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477
