Halifax police charge two men following assault, robbery at Walmart

Regional police are investigating a robbery and assault that took place at a Walmart in Halifax.

On Sunday, shortly after 5 p.m., officers responded to a robbery at the Walmart on Mumford Road, where security reported a man left the store with stolen merchandise, and when confronted, the man assaulted two security guards.

Police said once officers arrived, Halifax Shopping Centre security was helping Walmart security restrain the suspect. He was arrested.

According to HRP, a second man was also arrested for assaulting the Halifax Shopping Centre security guards in an effort to free the suspect.

A 36-year-old man and a 44-year-old man each face multiple charges and are scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court at a later date.
